Maroon Mammoth is a powerful continuous backup tool for Postgres that lets you restore your data to any specific minute. By capturing incremental backups of all database changes and storing them in your AWS bucket, it eliminates the need for daily full backups.
This approach ensures minimal data loss, limited to a maximum of one minute, rather than hours or days with traditional full backup methods. It's the ideal solution for databases too large to be backed up quickly and efficiently.
Initially we need to make a full backup. This backup will take as long as a normal full backup would take, but with the difference that you can keep using the database during the backup. The only limitation is that you can not create new databases or table spaces during this initial base backup.
Once the base backup is taken, we will catch all small incremental changes every minute, this way no data will be lost and there is no more need to take big backups.
